The Cumberland Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was formed in 2016 to strengthen the bridge between the community and our public schools. The Foundation encourages public/private philanthropy to enhance the educational experiences of students enrolled in the Cumberland public school district. The Foundation is committed to the ongoing development of progressive education in Cumberland for the betterment of the students and the entire community.

To assist students seeking to further their education following graduation, the Foundation has established the Cumberland Education Foundation Scholarship. The award will be given to a student accepted and committed to attending full-time, a 2 or 4 year college or technical institution. The Scholarship is based on the following criteria: academic performance, extracurricular activities/volunteerism, employment, and the personal statement.

In addition, CEF will be presenting the Rose McCabe Hogue Memorial Scholarship. Rose McCabe Hogue was a lifelong resident and educator in Cumberland. She graduated from Rhode Island College in 1925. She taught at the Valley Falls School and Cumberland Hill School. An active volunteer, she worked with many adults to support development of job skills. She passed away at the age of 42 leaving a legacy of love for education among her progeny. This $1,000 scholarship is open to any qualifying student with preference given to those studying elementary education.

We are pleased to announce that two $500 CEF scholarships were awarded in 2023 to Lily Iwuc and Kayley Babcock. In addition, CEF presented the Rose McCabe Hogue Memorial Scholarship to Kaylee Bouchard.
